Ventrilo Server Information
Note: Step by step video's are at the bottom if you prefer to just to watch those. I realize that this step by step is a little long and tedious; however, this "how to" is for the very basic of computer users. If you just need help in a certain area feel free to jump to where you need help by clicking one of the three steps below. Steps: 1. First thing you want to do is open up your browser (internet explorer, mozilla firefox, google chrome, etc.)
2. In the URL box type in: www.ventrilo.com/download.php (or you can just click on this link)
3. Under the Client Programs select the download link that goes with your Operating System (For most people it is going to be the Windows i386 - 32bit - Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008.)
4. Read over the next page and when satisfied click on "I Agree" at the bottom.
5. Choose Either "Run" or "Save" (Open file will download it and launch the installer while Save file will just download it.)
Note: If you chose "Run" go to # 2 1. Open the Ventrilo Installer
2. If prompted choose "Run" (You may need administrator priviledges to install this program)
3. Click on "Next"
4. Select "I accept the licence agreement" and then click "Next"
5. Type in your name and your organization. Read and choose the option below that best suits you, then choose "Next"
6. The default install directory is Program Files\Ventrilo if you want to change this click on "Browse" and then choose your destination; Otherwise, click on "Next"
7. If you are satisfied with all the information that you've entered and where it is going to install click on "Next"
8. Wait for the installation to complete..... (The easy part)
9. Click on "Finish" and you have just installed Ventrilo :-)
Configuring and Running Ventrilo..... 1. Open "Ventrilo"
2. Click on the arrow next to the "User Name"
3. A pop up will appear. Click on "New"
4. Type in your Screen Name and click OK then click OK again
5. Now to get into the KGB Server we need to click on the arrow next to "Server"
6. Click on "New"
7. Type in the server name of your choosing and click OK
8. In the box "Hostname or IP" enter "kgb.clanvent.com" without the quotations.
9. In the box "Port number" enter 5257
10. By default there is no password set so after you enter the port number click OK
11. If everything is configured correctly you should receive this message.
12. Now before we click Connect we need to enable "Push to Talk" or PTT. PTT is set so that you microphone is not constantly running or set off by background noise. You must enable this in KGB's Server. Click on "Setup"
13. Make sure there is a check mark next to "PTT Mode"
14. To change your button that you "Push to talk" click in the "Hotkey" box and then press whatever button you choose.
15. Once satisfied click on OK
16. Now we are ready to connect to Ventrilo and join the KGB servers. Click on "Connect" and you should be in.
17. Read over the rules and click on "close"
